IoT / Digitalisation

 Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as a network of physical objects, or devices, that are seamlessly integrated into the information network – allowing two way communication.

• The volume of all data created by these connected devices, and therefore stored, amounts to 44 zettabytes or 44 trillion gigabytes - equivalent to the number of grains of sand on all beaches on the earth.

• As only 15 percent of the world's devices are currently connected, the amount of data generated is only going to increase.

• The key question asked is how this data is used to effectively solve real problems.

• We have helped a number of cities and other organisations to identify the key issues, the appropriate use and business cases and the appropriate tech

Digital Services

• Digitalisation and the digital revolution, or often referred to as Industry 4.0, have been a feature of the industry sector for some time.

• We are increasingly seeing the adoption of digital technology in our towns and cities in other sectors such as in our energy and transport systems, as well as estate management, retail and the delivery of public services.

• By more informed use of data and the adoption of artificial intelligence such as with chatbots, services are becoming more targeted and more cost effective.

• Clearly an increasing issue is cyber security which we, with partners can also support you with.

Digital Twins

• A digital twin can be defined as a realistic digital representation of something physical.

• What distinguishes a digital twin from any other digital model is its connection to the physical twin.

• While the concept of a digital twin can be traced back to the 1960s with NASA, it’s only thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT) that it has become cost-effective to implement.

• Digital twins allow us to build modern, smarter infrastructure while saving time, money, resources and minimising disruption.

• Digital twins are becoming a business imperative, covering the entire lifecycle of an asset or process and forming the foundation for connected products and services. Organisations that fail to respond will be left behind. We can help you.
